What causes uneven skin tone?
Uneven skin tone means your skin color isn’t the same across your face. Some areas may look darker, some duller, and some rougher, so light doesn’t reflect evenly and skin looks less clear.
It is often a mix of things: dark marks left after breakouts, mild sun damage, a buildup of dead skin cells and rough texture. Because it usually has more than one cause, a plan that combines treatments often works well.

What causes it?
Sun exposure
UV light triggers extra pigment in some areas more than others.
Breakouts & irritation
Skin can darken where it was inflamed, leaving marks that fade slowly.
Slower renewal
As we age, dead skin cells shed more slowly and skin looks duller.
Hormones
Hormone changes can make some areas darker or more reactive.
Lifestyle
Smoking, poor sleep and dehydration can leave skin looking dull and uneven.
Three ways we can help
Exfoliate, clear pores and infuse a targeted serum for a quick, no-downtime boost.
Use a chemical peel to shed uneven, discolored surface skin.
Improve texture and tone over time with microneedling, with or without PRP.

Your typical plan
- ConsultationYour provider looks at what’s behind your uneven tone, your skin type and your routine, and gives you a written plan with the total price.
- Treatment seriesMost plans are about 3 visits spaced about 4 weeks apart. Facials like DiamondGlow® can be added between sessions.
- Results buildSkin looks brighter soon after treatment, and tone usually evens out gradually over 2–3 months.
- MaintainDaily sunscreen and a facial or peel every few months help keep tone even.
An honest note: Most people see skin that looks brighter and more even, but results vary and some marks take many months to fade. If you still have active breakouts, those usually need to be controlled first, often with prescription care. Ongoing facial redness, flushing or visible blood vessels may be rosacea, which should be evaluated by a doctor or dermatologist. Any spot that is new or changing should be checked by a dermatologist.
Frequently asked
Still unsure? Call us and we’ll talk it through.
What causes uneven skin tone?
Common causes include sun damage, dark marks left after breakouts, slower skin renewal with age and hormone changes. Most people have more than one cause, which is why a combined plan often works well.
What helps even out skin tone?
It depends on the cause. DiamondGlow® with a Brightening or Vitamin C serum is a gentle, no-downtime start. The Perfect Derma™ Peel and microneedling go further for dark marks and rough texture. Your provider will recommend a plan after seeing your skin.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people do a series of about 3 visits spaced about 4 weeks apart. Some add a facial between visits or a maintenance visit every few months. Your provider confirms the plan and total price before you start.
Is there downtime?
DiamondGlow® has no downtime. Microneedling usually causes redness for 1–3 days. The Perfect Derma™ Peel causes peeling for about a week.
Can I treat dark marks while I still have acne?
Some treatments can be done around mild breakouts, but active acne usually needs to be under control first. If your acne is ongoing or painful, a doctor or dermatologist can help with prescription care, and we can focus on marks once things calm down.
Are these treatments safe for darker skin tones?
Many can be, but darker skin can make extra pigment when it is irritated. Your provider will choose the treatment, strength and timing for your skin type.
How do I keep my results?
Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, be gentle with your skin and avoid picking at breakouts. Regular maintenance visits help keep tone even as your skin changes.
Who shouldn’t have these treatments?
Some peels and microneedling aren’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active skin infections or rashes, recent sunburn, or with some medications. Your provider reviews your health history before recommending anything.
Start with a consultation.
Your provider assesses your skin and goals and gives you a written plan with the total price before anything is booked.
