What causes neck laxity & turkey neck?
Neck laxity is loose or crepey skin between the jawline and the collarbone. Neck skin is thinner than facial skin and gets a lot of sun, so it often shows aging early. “Turkey neck” is the common name for loose skin and visible bands under the chin.
It usually shows as a softer jawline, vertical bands in the front of the neck and horizontal lines across it. Some people also have extra fat under the chin, which needs a different kind of plan.

What causes it?
Natural aging
Collagen and elastin decline, and neck skin is thin to begin with.
Sun exposure
The neck is often missed with sunscreen, so UV damage builds up.
Genetics
Neck shape, skin type and neck bands can run in families.
Weight change
Weight loss can leave loose skin under the chin and on the neck.
Posture & screen time
Looking down often may add to horizontal neck lines.
Three ways we can help
Stimulate new collagen in neck skin with RF microneedling and PRP.
Soften neck lines and bands with filler, Radiesse® and neuromodulator.
Improve the jawline with dissolvable PDO threads or structural filler.

Your typical plan
- ConsultationYour provider looks at your skin, bands, lines and jawline, and gives you a written plan with the total price.
- Treatment seriesTightening programs are 3 sessions about 4 weeks apart. Neck combos, neuromodulators and threads are usually done in one visit.

- MaintainA yearly tightening session and regular neuromodulator visits help keep results. Daily sunscreen on your neck helps too.
An honest note: Non-surgical treatments work best for mild to moderate neck laxity. If you have a lot of loose skin or fat under the chin, a surgical opinion may serve you better, and we’ll tell you that at your consultation. If you notice a new lump, swelling or a change at the front of your neck, please see your doctor first.
Frequently asked
Still unsure? Call us and we’ll talk it through.
Can a turkey neck be treated without surgery?
For mild to moderate laxity, often yes. RF microneedling, neck filler combos, neuromodulators and PDO threads can improve the look of the neck without incisions. Results are more subtle than a surgical neck lift, and advanced laxity may need a surgical opinion.
What helps horizontal neck lines?
Horizontal lines often respond to a combination of filler, Radiesse® and neuromodulator micro-dosing, like our Gold Standard Neck Rejuvenation Combo. RF microneedling can also improve the skin around them. Results vary from person to person.
What about neck bands?
Vertical neck bands are made by a muscle in the neck. A neuromodulator placed along the bands can soften them for a few months. Your provider will check whether this is a good fit for you.
How many treatments will I need?
The Neck Restoration Program is 3 sessions about 4 weeks apart. The Gold Standard Neck Combo and PDO threads are usually a single visit. Your provider confirms the plan and total price before you start.
Is there downtime?
Expect redness for 1–3 days after RF microneedling. Filler and threads can cause some swelling, tenderness or bruising for a few days. Most people return to work the same day or the next.
Will this get rid of fat under my chin?
These treatments are mainly for loose skin, lines and bands, not for removing fat. If extra fat under the chin is your main concern, your provider will talk with you about other options, including a surgical opinion.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
Filler shows a change right away. Collagen-based results build over 3–6 months and can last a year or longer. Neuromodulator results for neck bands usually last about 3–4 months.
Who shouldn’t have these treatments?
Some treatments aren’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active skin infections, certain medical conditions or some medications. Your provider reviews your health history before recommending anything.
